RENT OR BUY?
Is It Better To Rent Or Buy A House?
FTMDaily.com – One question that we recieve often is: “Is It Better To Rent Or Buy A House?”
Like most financial questions, the answer greatly depends upon several factors, including:
- Your own personal financial situation and future goals
- How long you plan to live in the home
- How quickly prices and rents are rising in your area
- Your personal investment outlook and risk profile
- Etc…
However, in our current economic environment, the question of whether to rent or buy a house also depends on your location. For example, if you live in a major coastal city like San Francisco or New York City where housing costs are outrageous, buying a house could be extremely cost-prohibitive.
Fortunately, Realtytrac has created the above map to address this important question.
Another good online tool for calculating where it is better to rent or buy a house can be found here.
Over the weekend, a new Gallup poll was released showing that a majority of high-income Americans believe real estate is the best long-term investment.
Meanwhile, mortgage lenders are finally beginning to relax their credit restrictions on prospective homebuyers.
According to the WSJ:
“Mortgage lenders are beginning to ease the restrictive lending standards enacted after the housing boom turned to bust, a sign of their rising confidence in the housing market. While standards remain tight by historical measures, lenders have started to accept lower credit scores and to reduce down-payment requirements.”
Here at FTMDaily, we strongly believe that investing in real estate, when done properly, can be one of the best investment decisions that you will ever make. In fact, a majority of U.S. millionaires expect real estate to be best alternative investment to own this year.
Whether you want to make money from renting houses, wholesaling houses, or buying tax liens, you can learn the basics of real estate investing in our FTMDaily Income University. You can learn more here.
